Description
Miṉḏirr are common across Arnhem Land, however they are known by many different names depending on their specific origins and design. Some miṉḏirr are made for ceremony and are adorned with clan designs, signifiers and totems. Other miṉḏirr are designed to carry certain foods or to assist with food preparation. Contemporary artists such as Helen Ganalmirriwuy use miṉḏirr as a departure point to express their clan designs and explore the limitless potential of form and colour.
