Description
Mirlarl (jungle vine) is harvested in in the monsoon jungle near Yilan, a homeland close to the Blythe River west of Milingimbi. The handles for this Bathi are made from hand made bush string, produced by rolling the bark of the Balgurr tree (coastal Karrajong). Three sisters Freda, Bonnie and Lily are of theWalamungu clan and are traditional owners of the beach named Yurrwi on Milingimbi Island. These Bathi are used for carrying shellfish and meat.
