“We use Biḻma (clap stick) for our culture funeral and ceremony (Bungul). Biḻma is a very important stick that old people use to teach other how to sing and dance. Singing and dancing make our culture safe and strong. Sometime in songs we sing about our bones and our soul.” These Biḻma have been crafted by artsworkers from Milingimbi Art and Culture using reclaim and found timber, and natural earth pigments harvested from our island and surrounding homelands including Buthalak ga Miku (red and yellow ochres), charcoal, and Watharr (white clay).
