Nirriwan at Gandjalamirr(Oysters at Gandjalamirr)
$320.00
This painting depicts nirriwan (oysters) that are found in a creek at Gandjalamirr, near the Garrawurra homeland of Gärriyak. They are surrounded by saltwater, represented by the rarrk throughout the painting, lines showing the ‘different paths’ through the water. The colour variation of the nirriwan represents their different states of development and decay; raw, cooked and rotten. Milminydjarrk (fresh waterholes) are shown down down the centre of the painting, depicted as red circles.
