This work depicts the artists mother’s Walamaŋu story about ratjuk (barramundi) who is hiding in the muŋuṉmuŋun (mangroves) and waiting for garkuyi (mullet) to swim past. The muŋuṉmuŋun is sometimes also depicted is Gapalma (seaweed).
Either side of the ratjuk you can see the mangrove seeds at different stages of development, and the white dots showing clusters of mapu (eggs) in the water, and prawns.
